This is the second edition of the study guide originally published in 2025.
In the new version, the chapter “Syntax, Morphology and Composition" in Section 1 has been expanded to include a greater number of definitions and examples of stylistic devices used in literary texts. These additions were made in response to common mistakes and questions recently encountered by students taking the course.
What if humanity was freed from fear?
Yan is a descendant of Homo Liberatus, an ancient race of super-humans who eliminated the gene of fear and began a war against psychopaths - vampires that feed on the energy of human suffering.
From Nazi criminals to the secret rulers of the world, evil takes many faces.
While Yan hunts one of the most terrifying murderers of the Second World War, fate prepares a new trial for Homo Liberatus: the birth of an anti-messiah, the future leader of the dark forces.
Will the hero be able to stop his own son?
The novel contains numerous quotations from documented interrogations of former Nazi collaborators served in Ukrainian Schutzmannschaft Battalion 118 in 1942 - 1945 during trials conducted in 1945 - 1986. The documents have been translated into English by the author.

If you live away from you home country, you may choose to study the Language A:, the self-taught option, independently or with the help of your parents, without help of a professional tutor. This is entirely manageable, however, the author observed that such students often do not fully understand the program requirements, which then affects their exam results.
This student-friendly handbook brings together information and advice primarily for independent learners, but it will also be useful for those who do have a class teacher — and even for the tutors themselves, especially if they are just beginning to teach this course. Such tutors often contact the author for consultations, which can be replaced with this guide.
Thanks to the uniform requirements of the Language A Literature Guide it has become possible to create this universal version of the handbook in English. It differs from the IB Russian Language A handbook only by exclusion of practical exercises for Paper 1 as those must be provided in the language chosen for study.
